Hi folks, John Paul Monroe here. I would like to share some thoughts on the phrase your neighbor as used by Jesus. In Mark 12.31 Jesus says "love your neighbor as yourself." He calls this the second commandment. In Luke 10.29 a lawyer asks Jesus "who is my neighbor?" Jesus tells a story of a man who has been wounded... this man is seen by 3 men... one of these men is merciful to him. Jesus asks the lawyer which of the 3 men was neighbor to the wounded man? The lawyer replies "the man who was merciful." Jesus directs the lawyer to be merciful to others. Jesus did not answer the lawyer's question. If I were to do that it might be taken as disrespectful. In the next scene Jesus is at Martha's house saying "Martha, Martha." We wrote about that here. My princess Aileen was born on 10/29. Yesterday was the anniversary of Aileen's death. Our investigation into what Jesus means by the phrase your neighbor ended that day. |

Beginning in Matthew 5.43 Jesus says love your neighbor and love your enemy... love them that love you and love them that hate you. The date 10/33 is 11/2. This is day number 622. My wife Bertha was born on 6/22. Many times my wife has said to others "Jesus says love your enemies." |
