In recent years a new mathematical idea has come to us. We call it "redaction". It's a way to reduce a number to a smaller number. We demonstrate it here using the number 526 which is like our Kristen's date of birth 5/26. 526 is 2 times 263. 263 is a prime number; it's the 56th prime number. We speak of 56 as the index of the prime number 263. The redaction of 526 by 263 is 2 times 56 which is 112. Here we've replaced the prime number 263 with its index 56; we've replaced "2 times 263" with "2 times 56"; we've replaced 526 with 112. |
